Ocampo Talks New Book – The Latinos of Asia: How Filipinos Break the Rules of Race 3/9/16

The UCLA Department of Sociology Irene Flecknoe Ross Lecture Series Race & Ethnicity Working Group presents Anthony C. Ocampo, discussing his new book, The Latinos of Asia: How Filipinos Break the Rules of Race. The book, which draws from the life stories of Filipinos in Los Angeles, sheds light on the puzzle of racial identity in American society. Dr. Ocampo is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Cal Poly Pomona. His research and teaching focuses on immigration, race and ethnicity, and gender and sexuality. He is a Ford Foundation Postdoctoral Fellow at the School of Public Policy at UC Riverside. Dr. Ocampo is a graduate of Stanford University (BA ’03, MA ’04) and UCLA (MA ’06, PhD ’11).

The book talk will be held on Wednesday, March 9th at 11:00 am in Haines 279, with a reception immediately following.
