A Conversation: “The Centrality of Race”

Kelly Lytle Hernández, Interim Director of the Ralph J. Bunche Center for African American Studies and Professor of History and African American Studies, and Sharon Kyle, former president of the Guild Law School and publisher and co-founder of the LA Progressive, will discuss 2018 American Book Award winner, City of Inmates: Conquest, Rebellion, and the Rise of Human Caging in Los Angeles, 1771-1965 (University of North Carolina), and “The Centrality of Race” in the progressive movement.
